Norine Braun is a Vancouver based artist who is not afraid to make music on her own terms. She has been called "jazzed up, funk tinged pop." That should tell you how her music defies conventional categorization.Built on a solid foundation of soul, Norine experiments with forms from ambient pop to jazz and rock.
Braun herself is an interesting mixture of equal parts Blondie, Bjork and Margo Timmins. Smooth one minute and rocking out the next. It’s a rare quality, and one that Braun capitalizes on to keep things compelling, a genuine musical chameleon. Norine is a songwriter-recording artist with 6 independent releases.
She has received college and AAA airplay in Canada and the US. Norine has charted on college charts including Top 10 and Most Added. Her award winning songs have been featured in film and TV. Her Now and Zen album won the 2004 Stonewall Society Musician of the Year Award. Conformity 451 won the 3rd Annual International Songwriting Competition, Artists for Literacy. She has also produced 2 compilation albums The Independents and Next Wave.
Norine was a judge for this years Outmusic 2006 Awards in NYC. In November 2006 she was awarded Female Singer-Songwriter of The Year in Jazz for her song Crystallize at the famed International LA Music Awards.
