Born in Loretteville, Quebec, Claude La Vertu is an artist who moved to Toronto in 2000 to pursue his passions for art, music and writing. Although mostly known for being an accomplished Interior Designer and Columnist for one of Canada’s largest daily papers, Claude’s solid following of enthusiastic music fans know him as not merely a Designer who sings, but rather a talented musician who just happens to Design. Another example of Claude’s passion for writing can be found in his soon to be released novel called “The Dare”, which is about an adopted child and the endless string of astonishing miracles that surrounds him, the single man who adopted him, and the unlikely circle of people who become his family. Like all his artistic expressions, when it comes to music, Claude’s inspiration is about “feeling before genre” and one only needs to hear the emotion in his voice and the weight of his composition to know that feelings do make his music, and that there is something to his theory of; “If it feels right, sing it, because nothing else matters”. The selections of Claude’s music presented on Today’s Toronto were composed and/or arranged with the collaborative efforts of the impossibly talented Dave Orrett at Windward Music Studio in Toronto, where much was learnt; many tears were shed and entirely too much chocolate was consumed.
