Biography The musical group Boswalos are a Toronto based alternative indie rock band, have been playing throughout Ontario and the surrounding areas for the past two years and are attracting new fans every step of the way. During this time, the group has been fortunate to have performed at some of the most prestigious venues affiliated with live music such as, The Horseshoe Tavern, The Opera House, Lee's Palace, Red's Entertainment Complex, and the Legendary CBGB's in New York City. In addition to performing, Boswalos has come to establish themselves as one of the "must-see" live acts around.
Capturing their live presence on record was something the band had strived to achieve. Early spring of 2005 brought the band into the Pocket Studios, (Mike Turner - Our Lady Peace, Trevor Kustiak - Evans Blue), to record a 3 song demo. This work would start the ball rolling for the band and eventually lead to a nomination in the best rock category at the Toronto Independent Music Awards. In the fall of 2005, the band entered Sony Music studio Megawatt to record the track "Under Black Lights" with producer Haydain Neale of Jacksoul, and finished at number 1 on garageband.com for best original song. Still longing for something bigger, Boswalos would eventually finish writing follow up songs what would become the bands debut EP in the fall of 2006 simply entitled, "Boswalos". Ryan A. Mills, (The Arcade Fire, The Most Serene Republic), worked with some of the most respected indie bands in the Toronto area, and helped capture the "real" sound of Boswalos. In the end the record sounded raw, organic, and was applauded by fans and critics alike.
Almost immediately upon it's release, the band showcased at the annual MusicNL ceremony in Newfoundland, and share the award show stage with some of the most respected east coast performers ever. From there, the new EP began to amplify. Songs were added to college, community, and commercial radio in Canada, the US, Europe, and Australia. Then, the interviews started pouring in. Boswalos sat down with CJAD Radio in Montreal, as well as 2 interviews with CBC's Radio 3, to talk about the press that was surrounding them. In December 2006 the band was the featured artist for the month on Twirl Radio in Sacramento California, and took the opportunity to talk on air about their new Canadian sound. CD reviews came very well received. Twirl radio hailed the record as "important music...mini anthems", Lucid Forge claimed, "I'm now hooked on Boswalos" and SOCAN events called them "local heroes". Early in 2007, the band was featured 3 times in 2 of the most prominent east coast music magazines, the Newfoundland Herald and OnReel Magazine respectfully.
Currently, Boswalos are getting ready for upcoming summer shows. The band is in talks to perform at some of the most popular festivals in Canada and can't wait to play for their fans on the road.
