My name is Anne Bonsignore.  I arrived in Canada from South Africa two years ago. I was raised in a very musical family with my mother being a singing, piano, guitar teacher as well as a full time Choir mistress/music teacher and my father a musician himself.  Music is a part of me.  My mother always said that I could sing before I could talk.

I grew up being inspired by the ballads of Patsy Cline and Whitney Houston.  I’ve been writing songs since the age of 14 and harmonize with ease.  I am self taught on the piano and play by ear.

I have been singing in bands since the age of fifteen and have been a singer/songwriter since the age of fourteen. I sing pop, rock, country, jazz and can perform most other genres including that of opera, in which I had two years of training under Professors of music James and Ros Conrad.  My voice is that of an Alto and a Coloratura Soprano.

Fresh out of school I became a full time music teacher at three schools in Durban South Africa (the city I was born in) teaching singing, piano, recorder and class music as well as being the Choir mistress.

During my last two years in South Africa I was signed to an Independent label.  To make ends meet during the recording of my album I performed in the Barnyard Theatre’s musical stage productions of La Vida and Glory Days as the lead female vocalist.  These shows ran for five nights a week in different cities around South Africa averaging about 500 to 600 people in the audience per night.  I also took part in Coca-cola Pop stars which is a similar music competition to Pop Idols although the intent was to find a group rather than a solo artist.  I made it to the top fiftten and took part in the Pop stars concert which had an audience of 5000 people as well as being televised Nationally on South African television (SABC).

I have sung at numerous corporate events and weddings and have also worked on several radio and TV jingles.  I have also worked with numerous producers including Peter Zizzo (Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion and Vanessa Carleton) and Dennis East (Well known South African Producer) as well as a few others.

I left South Africa to pursue my singing career here in Canada.  My goal is to find a label that would be interested in my singing/songwriting talents.  I have a home studio where I have been producing and recording my own music over the years.  I also teach Vocal training privately from home and I perform at Open Mic nights throughout Toronto since arriving in Canada.  I express my emotions through music and love performing.  I would love to be given the opportunity to touch people with my music and lyrics.
