Trips

Trips was born in the infamous country known as Haiti. In 1991, him, and his mother, along with his sister would move to Canada for a better life. Facing Canada's harsh winter and being the only black kid in grade 4, the transition wasn't easy. The following year his mother put him in a different school, where the other kids shared his skin color. At Drummond elementary, most of the students liked, listened to, and dressed in hip-hop fashion. He loved the culture instantly.

Years went by and all through high school, Trips played shooting guard for Sun Youth, a varsity team in the city, also Football as a running back for the same organization. Being good at mc'ing also, he would have to make a tough decision, which was at the time, to leave sports behind and pursue the musical route at the age of 16. Around that time, Trips became man of the house. His father, having left the household the year prior. He ran the streets with his crew, providing himself the things his mother couldn't. Luckily, he managed to stay out of prison for the years he would ripp and run: meanwhile staying focused on rapping.

Enrolled at Dawson College in 2000, he was quickly becoming one of the best artists of the city. Winning numerous showcases and battles, having a street buzz, and running with the most popular crew on Campus: there was no doubt his name was starting to circulate across the city of Montreal.

In 2003, he put himself in the studio and started recording intensely. A few months later, he would release his first mixtape entitled Prince of the City Volume 1. The response: amazing. the guys felt it  and the ladies loved it. A natural hustler, he would then start working on the sequel immediately. Prince of the City Volume 2 was released in October of 2004. 2000 copies circulated on the independant market in a mere 2 months, which would give him an incredible buzz. Promoters would call him and get him to open for the Diplomats in December 2004 at the notorious Club Aria, in downtown Montreal.

By 2006, he would record over 80 songs and perform all over Canada. Also having the time to complete college and get his degree.
Now he's back in 2007 locked and loaded. Currently working with Atlas Music Group, he is releasing a compilation of his best material this summer. A promotional tour will kick off in September. Stay tuned.
