Amelia Lam

Since the age of 17, Amelia has been modeling and loving every second of it! In her last year of high school, Amelia decided to join the Canada Globe Productions Pageant and even went on to be crowned Miss National Capital Region 2008!

Ever since she first entered that first pageant, Amelia has made many new friends and learned many lessons and ever since has been busy modeling.

When we asked Amelia how her childhood was for her she said, “I grew up being bullied and teased up until high school. Racism was still an issue when I was younger so I had to deal with a lot in school and at home.

My parents were never supportive of anything I wanted to do and didn't believe I could grow up with a steady career. So I pretty much grew up to rely on myself. When I look back and look at my life now, it has been more then I ever could have imagined. Never would I have thought that I could model after all that low self-esteem from the kids at school and NEVER did I think I would have gotten out of my parents house at the age of 18. Now I’m almost 20 and I am on great terms with my parents and I am a strong person who strives for what I want.”

Amelia’s favorite type of modeling is runway. She loves to see what different countries have to offer the fashion world and of course, who doesn’t love strutting down the runway with people gathered around and the camera’s flashing!?

Interestingly, Amelia says her hands are her most favorite body part saying, “My favorite body part are my hands, I have been told that I have weird alien hands but its because they're very long and slender. They look like lady fingers and I use them to my advantage in close up photo shoots.”

Caridee English is Amelia’s favorite model, saying that “It just goes to show you how someone could come from nobody to somebody in two seconds. Being given a chance to model and show your stuff is a lifetime opportunity and she used it so well. She gave her all, she wanted to be a model and she has the perfect attitude for it. She is very inspiring to look at and watch.”

Eventually Amelia would to have her own family someday, although she is not ready for a child of her own yet, she imagines having a little girl and spoiling her!
