Layla Ryan

Layla grew up right here in Toronto and in her words it was “Amazing.” Her background is of Irish decent, and her last name is Ryan which was past down for generations and originated as O’Ryans. About growing up in Toronto she said “Having everything you want and need at your finger tips no matter which class you are is something most other cities cannot provide. Everyone is always busy busy busy and rush rush rush. For me it was special because my whole family lives in Toronto and I’ve been able to stay so close to them. We can simply hop on the TTC and go to the AGO and then a movie and stop into a Timmies for a coffee. Another great thing about growing up at the centre of the universe was all the different types of people and cultures I was able to learn about my whole life. My favorite food isn't Salt beef like most of the Irish, its Mexican!”

People always encouraged Layla to get into the modeling business, and when she was 14 she got a call from an agency that she had signed up for. So for kicks, she and her mother went to the agency and put down the money for the classes.

One thing that is difficult in modeling for Layla is her shyness, but her desire for the lights, cameras and shoes overrides any of her butterflies. In every job she pushes herself to show people who she is and what she is made of…but she does wish sometimes she had smaller feet, not because she’s self conscious, its so she can wear more shoes!

Layla’s favorite modeling style is runway fashion, but with television coverage. She loves dressing up and being the special beautiful girl that gets to wear thousand dollar dresses or outfits and “work it.” Since she’s 5’10” people always say she’s got great legs, so she does her best to use them! Her favorite body part are her breasts though, saying “I know its crazy coming from a girl but I'm proud and can honestly say I’ve never considered a boob job for the simple fact that they give me the stunning body I have.”

One thing that separates Layla from other models is that she never acts as if she is the most important person in the room. Explaining she says “I look at modeling as a fun job but a job none the less. I know my boss has the power to fire me and I am there to please the people I work for. I also have short gingery hair and like to go crazy, which everyone loves.”

Family is important to Layla, she has always gone to her family when someone cuts her up or had given harsh advice. Digging a little deeper she elaborated “There are always times when a designer will call you fat or stupid or ugly but knowing your family is backing you helps to take that in and not break you. I eventually want a family but taking time off to have children is a huge choice. You could be forgotten over night let alone 9 months. I plan on settling down as soon as my modeling career does.”

Layla credits her mother for her looks saying “My mom is a sexy beast! I am my mom when she was young. Same body, same personality, everything, and I am proud to say so.”

Her childhood dream was to be an Architect and fly her whole family to Hawaii for her wedding. Surprisingly she is actually pursuing Architecture and has many plans for traveling around the world. However, if she had the chance, she would go to a third world country, build a school and teach English and says “Most people in Canada are not aware of how lucky they are. I am extremely passionate about helping people and I know that the people in developing nations need the most help.”
